Pré Saint-Gervais

Art in our streets and in our lives in the Sept-Arpents neighborhood

In May and June 2021, muralists Oji, Stew, and Tanala joined the Artivista association in the priority neighborhood of Sept Arpents to create murals and organize workshops with young people and residents of the neighborhood. The project, linked to the objectives of our partner Est Ensemble, was to work with local residents and young people to create a new colorful and welcoming urban landscape and to promote art and access to culture for all, in collaboration with the city’s Youth Department, local community associations, the Mission Locale la Lyre, and the Aurore association. The Pré-Saint-Gervais Temporary Accommodation Center houses 125 isolated adult men who are beneficiaries of international protection. Its main mission is to offer comprehensive support that promotes empowerment and integration.

Introductory workshops and participatory murals with artist Megumi Nemo, assisted by the Grande Bricole association. Opportunities for discussion with the artists were organized to improve social cohesion in the neighborhood as part of the city contract. The goal of involving residents in this project, combating substandard housing, encouraging social diversity, and enhancing the neighborhood’s living environment was achieved thanks to the participation of all those involved in the project!
