Oji
Artist Oji learned to draw at the very time when he was introduced to the spray can in
- He was then 25. After a long series of spur-of-the-moment paintings in Paris and
New York streets, he started getting institutional commissions from festivals, educational
workshops or urban development schemes. Each new work is for him a conceptual attempt
to reach for the central place of the human being.
With American painting and graphic design as influences, he started developing his
personal style, constantly enriching it through training in drawing and the mastering of
colour. Everyone can identify with his minimalist portraits or his eye-catching foliage who
point to a longing for nature in an urbanized world of concrete. His sense and use of poetry
nurse a deep feeling for messages of humanism.
